Elijah Waters
At Rotterdam's West-Blaak skatepark, Elijah Waters—born Yannick Witvoet—found music as a lifeline amid the scrape of decks. Inspired by legends like A Tribe Called Quest, Nina Simone, and Bob Dylan, he’s a self-taught artist blending hip-hop, R&B, folk, and experimental sounds into a grand yet approachable soundscape marked by introspective lyricism. Drawn to uncover beauty in darkness, Elijah offers listeners a fearless, honest look into his world.
The now London-based artist, Elijah Waters, has been making serious waves in recent years. Blending soul, hip-hop, R&B, folk and a genre-blending style he calls “future folk”, the self-taught artist’s music operates as a place of solace for people – both himself and his listeners. “Music to me is a service industry,” he says. “And I want to prepare, collaborate and serve it with as much love and passion as possible.”
Collaborating with close-knit friends and visionary artists like Jeshi, Fred Wave, Rian Brazil, and Jopie, Elijah’s work is a “family business,” rooted in shared experience and authenticity. Aiming to inspire and heal, he creates a communal space where vulnerability becomes strength, transforming survival into art.
